The Spring is one of the newest additions to the ever changing Austin skyline. I quite literally watched this building go up.  As a downtown Austin resident, this was my view for more than a year as the Spring sprang out of the ground and went up to it’s full 42 stories.  It’s a beautiful gleaming new building that is adding residents quickly.  The building is known as a “point tower” which allows the developer to maximize the floorspace, provide incredible views from almost every room and yet utilize a small footprint on the earth.  Real estate is very expensive in downtown, so the more units a developer can fit on a smaller piece of land, the more profitable (and yet affordable) the units themselves can be.  There is a roof top pool, reservable units for your visiting guests, a private dining room and kitchen for those nights where you need a little extra room for your dinner parties, a large 7 level parking garage and a location that is hard to beat!  Walk to Whole Foods for your groceries, just a few steps to the hike and bike trail at Lady Bird Lake (formerly known as Town Lake) This photo was taken on August 30, 2009.

The units feature some wonderful features like gas cooking, granite counter tops, and wood flooring in the living areas.  One of my favorite things are the floor to ceiling glass walls.  Wow, what an effect!
