I'm ecstatic about the possibilities this could bring to Austin. The international visibility will help our retail, and hopefully higher end home/ luxury markets. The location will definitely bring money to an area of town that needs it desperately.

Between Schlitterbahn in Cedar Park, and The Formula One track in Del Valle, things are looking good for area real estate values and retail sales.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, still frustrated by the ActiveKey. I finally broke down and got a car charger for the thing. Still unhappy I had to fork over another 20 bucks for that. Now, it interferes with the electronics in my car. We recently took a long (9 hour) drive and the key kept buzzing my car stereo every time it connected. I really do hate this product.

I will give the folks at GE props for one thing, I received a call from someone who had read my blog posts and wanted to discuss the product and what the future holds. Unfortunately I deleted his phone number, so if anyone from SUPRA reads this, I would welcome the opportunity to call.

I also have signed up with the Austin Board of Realtors to be involved in any technology decisions they make. I figure, if I’m not involved, I don’t have much right to complain. So, I hope to be on their technology committees both for this and the MLS systems we select. We’ll see how it goes!

Excellent post! I too am frustrated that I can’t use my iPhone to open lockboxes and that I have to constantly charge my ActiveKEY because I can’t turn the radio off. And I have actually forgotten my ActiveKEY and had to go back home and get it. I’m with you when you say you hate lugging around the extra piece of hardware and I loved it when you said it looks like a Fisher-Price fake cell phone! But the pricing is truly an outrage. How dare they charge so much for such a piece of junk?! Way to go GE is right. I sure wish they’d get their act together.
